TRUSTED HANDYMAN IN BURLESON TX

The city of Burleson is a community located fourteen miles south of Fort Worth in the State of Texas. Though it shares the same name with Burleson County which belongs to the State of Texas, the city is part of Burleson County.

The area has its origin from 1881 when a railroad to link Fort Worth to Hillsboro was proposed by Missouri-Kansas-Texas and decided to establish a depot in the area know as Burleson today. Grenville M. Dodge who worked on behalf of MKT bought the land intended for the terminal from Reverend Henry C. Renfro on the condition that it will be named after his teacher Dr. Rufus Columbus Burleson. October 10, is observed as ‘founding day’ for the city of Burleson being the day the lot was sold.

Agriculture which includes livestock farming was the mainstay of the community, and these thrived so well in the area. Burleson had its first school established in 1879 and its post office the following year with John L. Dickey as its pioneering postmaster. The post office operated inside a retail establishment as was a common practice then. Burleson experienced the rapid development of a couple of years toward the end of the 1800s with the creations of schools, farms, cotton gins and grit mills, grocery store, a bank and a jeweler. Also, a group of women came together in 1899 to form a society called Eumathian Club for the purpose of cultural advancement.

The establishment of Interurban Line service in 1912 by North Traction Company linking Cleburne and Fort Worth and having a stop at Burleson had a significant developmental effect on the city by providing easy access. The area attracted more business establishment, and there were about 30 businesses located in the town in the 1930s.

A petition was sent to Johnson County in 1912 for the incorporation of Town of Burleson. This was followed by an election and at the passage of the petition; the county judge ordered the establishment of Burleson on May 21, 1912.

Burleson Independent School District was established by the passage of a bill by Texas Legislature in 1909. Today, Burleson is served by not only Burleson ISD but Joshua ISD, Everman ISD and Mansfield ISD serve a different portion of the city. Highs schools in Burleson include Burleson High School, Burleson Collegiate High School, and Burleson Centennial High School. Students in Burleson are known for achieving high scores in SAT and ACT admission exams, way beyond the state and national average. The local campus for Hill College and Texas Wesleyan University are situated in Burleson Higher Education Center.

The local library and a museum is located in the home of the Clark and Refrom families. Hidden Creek, a golf course located in Burleson is regarded as the toughest golf course in Dallas and Forth Worth. The city of Burleson has a low cost of living when compared to other cities in the United States and it also has a low unemployment rate. These pointer makes Burleson a desirable place to live.
