Bought initially with the aim of developing it, H.B Chamberlin acquired what is now Arlington Heights as 2,000 acres of land from Tom Hurley and Robert McCart. He ended up building a Hotel on the property but the Hotel got burnt, and he also died in 1894 the same year. Eventually, the movement of United States military personnel from areas around Fort Worth after World War I brought about the development of Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights is located at about three miles down west of the Central Business District of Fort Worth. This large neighborhood includes some part of North Hi Mount and Hillcrest. The present-day rolling hills located in Arlington Heights was a ranch but was later converted to a dairy farm by W.T Ladd in 1890. The diary’s fence westward is the boundary of Fort Worth residential district. Another early owner of some land portion in Arlington Heights is J.P Montgomery who acquired a grant of land in 1857 like 10 others. He sold some parts in 1919 to F.M Hammond.
Early residential developers in Arlington Heights include Lewis D. Fox, D.O Modlin, George C. Clarke and Chamberlin Investment Company and choice property then sold high as $300. Arlington Heights experienced a rapid pace of residential development between 1920 and 1926 and was regarded as the fastest growing neighborhood in Fort Worth.
Arlington Height Blvd. was called initially was renamed Camp Bowie Blvd. in 1921. The Boulevard had it paved initially with creosote soaked wooded blocks but was changed to the brick pavement in 1928. The Texas Historical Commission made the boulevard a historical site in 1978.
Arlington Heights has a beautiful neighborhood that features vintage streetlight, sidewalks, trees lined along the streets and easy access to shops and restaurants along Camp Bowie Boulevard. The north of Camp Bowie Boulevard is known for its elegant Prestigious homes through the rapid revitalization efforts throughout the neighborhood are making the entire Arlington Height more desirable to live in.
Arlington Heights has easy access to Downtown business district, Fort Worth’s museums and Cultural District. The neighborhood has associations such as Arlington Heights Neighborhood Association (which covers South of Camp Bowie Blvd, between Merrick and Clover Lane), East Arlington Heights Neighborhood Association (East of Clover Lane) and Crestline Area Neighborhood Association (for North of Camp Bowie Boulevard). Some of the prominent activities of these associations include Flag Day Parade, Yard of the Month awards, Historic Preservation Banners, Newsletter, Allen Clean Up, Crime Watch, Various fundraising events, Beautification of Veterans Park, Labor Day Parade and Camp Bowie Corridor Plan.
Arlington Heights is under the jurisdiction of Fort Worth Independent School District. The neighborhood has two elementary schools namely North Hi Mount Elementary School located at 3801 W. 7th street and South Hi Mount Elementary School located at 4101 Birchman. Arlington Heights has just one middle school by the name W.C Stripling located at 2100 Clover lane. This is the same for its High school as the only one serving the neighborhood is Arlington Heights High School situated at 4501 W. Rosedale.
